Connecting your laptop to your tv?

Postby Dhani » Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:38 pm

How would one do this?

I would like to connect to the tv I have in my room and the big flat screen in the front room (both are hd)

Is it something to do with the s-port?

if your laptop has an HD out, use an HD to HD cable.

if your laptop has a VGA out use a VGA to VGA cable.

if your laptop has S-Video out use the S-Video male to female cable.

simple. of course all these options will not give you sound on your tv unless u use the HD cable, but even then you need to have a digital sound card on your laptop.

as far as im aware you would need to have a dedicated sound card on the laptop and it would require an output source, kind of like headphones, and that would need to be supported by the graphics card aswell to get the audio and video going out on 1 stream otherwise you would get video on one channel and sound on another channel for example AV1 would have video but no sound and AV2 would have sound but no video,

your best play is to connect up the s-vid cable to the tv and have the sound coming out through hi-fi speakers or something.
